Rivers and Gates will be starting today for the Chargers, at least that's what the propaganda box that is NFL.com tells me. This is good news. At least I think it's good news to have Rivers at quarterback, right? Either way, I'd say we're pretty likely to see The Pride of Fresno State, Mr. Billy Volek, get at least a few snaps today.
Now, I know you're probably thinking San Diego is screwed. Their 3 top offensive players are banged up and they're facing a team that hasn't lost since the Berlin Wall fell. Yes, it doesn't look good, but let's remember a few things.
1. The Chargers aren't even supposed to be here, so they're playing with house money.
2. The Patriots have the "playing for a perfect season" hanging over them.
3. Randy Moss became a distraction this week.
4. The Chargers are looking for serious payback.
5. Shawne Merriman has been doing 'roids all week.
This game will be a lot closer than we all think is my guess.
Anyway, 91% of you think the Pats will come out victorious. I'm unfortunately joining the masses. By the way, if San Diego wins this game, it'll be just behind the Jets over the Colts in Super Bowl III on the list of best NFL upsets ever.
