AJ Allmendinger admits drug use

Blog Photo - AJ Allmendinger admits using Adderall without prescriptionAJ Allmendinger has come clean....well, he has cleared up the positive result to his testing, at least.  Today AJ released a statement acknowledging use of the drug Adderall, a drug commonly used for the treatment of Attention Deficit Disorder.  As AJ has not been diagnosed with the disorder, the drug is not on the approved list of drugs that can be found in his system.

AJ has said that he felt tired in the week before the test was administered, and a friend offered him a pill to alleviate the tiredness.  Without a prescription, Adderall is prohibited, classed as a Schedule II drug by the DEA.

Okay, enough of the news report.

AJ, are you really trying to tell us that you used Adderall, an amphetamine, that a friend gave you because you were tired, only once?  Do you really expect us to believe that you would, knowing NASCAR routinely does random drug tests, accept a pill from a friend because he told you it would help you not feel tired, without knowing what it was?  Did you somehow think you were immune to drug tests?  Or are you really, honestly, that stupid?

I just don't buy this bullcrap story.  I cannot believe that a NASCAR driver, who knows that he could be tested at any minute for prohibited drugs would take anything, ever, if he were honestly clean.  I am inclined to believe, rather, that AJ is more than a one time user of the drug.  I'm also inclined to believe that NASCAR had some indication of the drug use and the "random" drug test was not so random.

I also believe that we will not see AJ Allmendinger in NASCAR anytime soon.

Curt Cavin said it best on his radio show last week. Allmedinger is either an idiot or a liar. Personally, I'm not sure which is worse.

Personally, I think lying about it is worse.  He enrolled in the recovery program, but if he doesn't come clean and tell the truth, how can he expect to get better?

Mike, I honestly couldn't believe what I was reading. I thought, seriously?? You are seriously releasing this as your explanation statement? Do you think we are all morons? And regardless of what it is being taken for, legally, it is an approved drug for ADD and that is it. It is a performance enhancing drug otherwise. What a dumbass

Glad someone else was calling BS on the explanation he gave because I sure was. Hypothetically, I suppose it's possible, but I refuse to believe that he's as dumb as a brick like he thinks the rest of us are. I've heard of it being taken as a concentration and performance enhancer, not as necessarily an energy booster as he claims.
