Blog Photo - ALCS Game 2 Preview and Live ThreadLess than 24 hours after the Tigers near no-hitter Game 1 victory, the Tigers and Red Sox are at it again with Game 2 of the ALCS (8:00, FOX). Given the pitching matchup, we might be in for another tight pitchers' duel. The Tigers are going with the best pitcher in the American League, Max Scherzer. Scherzer was last scene saving Game 4 of the ALDS by getting out of a bases loaded, nobody out jam. The Red Sox counter with Clay Buchholz, who was great in the first half of the season before an injury kept him out for most of the second half. He came back from that injury and was solid, but not spectacular. His last game he went 7 innings and gave up 3 runs in Game 3 of the ALDS.

From Hardball Talk, Boston is expected to make some lineup changes after last night's 1 hit performance. Mike Carp will start at first base over Mike Napoli, while Jonny Gomes will start in left over Daniel Nava (the only Red Sock to get a hit last night). In fact, also from Hardball Talk, here are tonight's starting lineups:

Detroit Tigers

CF Austin Jackson
RF Torii Hunter
3B Miguel Cabrera
1B Prince Fielder
DH Victor Martinez
SS Jhonny Peralta
C Alex Avila
2B Omar Infante
LF Don Kelly

Last night's lineup had Peralta in left and Jose Iglesias at short. Tonight, Peralta moves back to his natural position of shortstop and Don Kelly gets the start in left.

Boston Red Sox

CF Jacoby Ellsbury
RF Shane Victorino
2B Dustin Pedroia
DH David Ortiz
1B Mike Carp
LF Jonny Gomes
C Jarrod Saltalamacchia
SS Stephen Drew
3B Will Middlebrooks

If Game 1 was any indication, this will be a tight and intense series. Can the Red Sox tie it up, or will the Tigers head back home with a 2-0 series lead? Q it up throughout Game 2.

Each of the runs on the grand slam were charged to a different pitcher, all relievers. That's...something.

Justin Verlander is throwing a complete game on Tuesday regardless. That bullpen is human napalm.

So today in Red Sox fans being dicks, we have the dude who took a home run ball out of a lady's hands and threw it back, and the security guard who paid no attention to Torii Hunter going up and over and possibly being injured.

OMG.... Papi came through....

Big Papi is the Red Sox answer to Mr. October

I want to throw something.

That escalated quickly.

Clay Buchholz becomes the first starting pitcher to get roughed up in the LCS.  Tigers look to be cruising to a 2-0 series lead with Verlander scheduled to pitch in game 3

Sox have no hits and 7 K's through 3... Seems they have an Oakland A's type of game not best suited up against the Tigers.... But made for the long season haul.....

Scherzer has 7 K's through 3 innings. Deja vu from last night.
