ALCS Game 3: Maybe Leyland is even capable of changing the weather
10/13/06

Near the top of my list of things I don't want to do when the weather is under 40 degrees - hit a 95 mph fastball (not that I could).

The story of before the Game 3 is clearly the weather - what do you think will be the storyline after the game? What magic trick will Jimmy Leyland pull out today. Perhaps he'll just have a hunch, resign Kirk Gibson and have him pinch hit in the 9th. Not putting it past him.

So if you're watching Game 3, feel free to live-comment along with me below.

I lived in upper New Jersey as a high school sophomore and had the misfortune of pitching a game in the snow.  The temperature was in the high 20's and the field was covered with snow so we used an orange ball for contrast.  In the first inning I fouled a ball off (using an aluminum bat) and I thought my hands were going to shatter.  They called the game after five innings!  I was glad I was pitching that day because the movement kept me warm... my outfielders were miserable!
