Hi, hello, welcome to the first edition of the ANTI-BCS POLL, where i rank college football's best teams, with NO advantages, NO favoritism, NO ol' boy network, and NO conference bias based on whims and T.V. money. I will continue to watch as many games as humanly possible, read your responses and thoughts, and retain as much info as possible. I am first and foremost, as you may have read in other articles, a fan of the University of Michigan, but i am not a Big Ten apologist, and will never be. I have lived in the heart of SEC country for 28 years, and, will also be respectful of a team based soley on performance, and NOT excuses.I WILL RESPECT EVERY TEAM, and will choose teams from ANY CONFERENCE, regardless of the un-realistic, and unfair BCS MESS, which continues to be reliant on sports writers , who vote for teams in the coference they cover, and television mouthpieces who are biased and slanted to teams that pay the t.v. bills to enable better ratings for the games they broadcast. As college football fans, we all look forward to the pre-season magazines as spring arrives, to see how the rankings look, and where your beloved team is projected to start. After the magazines, we wait for that first U.S.TODAY, and A.P. polls. From my perspective, these polls have been de-valued because most of the Coaches have revealeD that they don't vote, giving an assistant the job, who sends it in at the last second, never watching the games. A.P. writers from the East Coast disrespect any football played west of the Mississippi River, and send in ballots having not seen teams and players from the West Coast. Sports buisness people, who make their living covering sports, should be more informed, and care more about the job they have been given. They seem to be having trouble, so, as a college football fan, here goes my attempt to place the TOP ANTI -BCS teams in the proper spots. I'm sure some, shoot, most of you will disagree with me. and i welcome all imput. So, here goes, the initial poll, based on MY OPINION, WITHOUT BIAS!!
- #1 TEXAS 7-0
- #2 ALABAMA 7-0
- #3 PENN ST. 8-0
- #4 USC 5-1
- #5 OKLAHOMA 6-1
- #6 UTAH 8-0
- #7 TEXAS TECH 7-0
- #8 OKLAHOMA ST. 7-0
- #9 OHIO ST. 7-1
- #10 BOISE ST. 6-0
- #11 GEORGIA 6-1
- #12 FLORIDA 5-1
- #13 TULSA 7-0
- #14 TCU 7-1
- #15 GEORGIA TECH 6-1
- #16 BALL ST. 7-0
WHY ONLY 16?
I decided on only 16, because i believe ANY playoff system should invole at least 16 teams, based on an old SPORT MAGAZINE article back in the early 1980's. A successful playoff is possible, but limiting ANY playoff to a plus+one, or four teams is unrealistic, and unfair, because again, it's biased toward a small mumber of teams, when team # 5 or #6 or #11 or #12 may be playing the best football.
Enjoy the games next weekend, and we will be back for week #2 of the ANTI BCS POLL!
