After watching Aaron Rodgers (Green Bay Packers starting QB) last Monday night against the Cincinnati bengals, it's apparent to me that the standing ovation was not for Aaron but for the beginning of football season in "Titletown" and our beloved Geen Bay Packers team.
In the short stint that Rodgers played I noticed he (Rodgers) has a tendency to take too many hits compared to the real "Iron Man" of Green Bay Football - Brett Favre! Brett has a knack of avoiding sacks both in the pocket and on the run. Rodgers may be more agile and able to run better than the 39-year old Favre but in my eyes he's still a rookie and has not learned the art of "evasion" ! In fact, Rodgers had only thrown 59 passes in three years with the Packers (up until last Monday Night's game) and was injured two of those three years, maybe he should have played the entire first-half to get more reps!
By not having a "veteran" QB on the roster and only two rookies (brohm and Flynn) to back up Rodgers the Green bay Packers are teetering on a disastrous season. I ask, "Are the fans of Green Bay ready and willing to have a losing season and have the untinkable happen"? Like losing Rodgers to a season ending injury, or worse yet ready to endure a season like the long forgotten Phil Bengston or Ray Rhoades era's? I dont think so.
In the event one or all of the above situations arise during this season, Mike McCarthy (Packers Head Coach) and Ted Thompson (Packers GM) may find themselves on the wrong end of the media blitz and the Packer fans wanting answers and their jobs! Especially when Aaron Rodgers ends up sidelined for any or most of the season due to another ankle or toe injury as he has in the past!
