The Packers have signed a contract extension for Aaron Rodgers, making him their QB until 2014. Brett Favre's much-maligned replacement in Green Bay has thrown for 1,668 yards and 12 TD's through 7 games so far, and is 7th in the NFL with a 98.8 QB rating. Many Packers fans expressed disappointment with the Packers allowing Favre to leave, but the move has paid off big time so far, as Rodgers has excelled as their new QB. With 12 TD's and only 4 INT's, he has outperformed even the legendary Favre so far.
Rodgers is in his 4th season, and made his first career start on opening day this year. The Packers are 4-3 and tied for first in the NFC North with the Chicago Bears.

As long as he can stay healthy, this looks like a great move by the Packers. Rodgers shows a lot of potential. His poise throughout the Favre retirement/unretirement saga was incredible, and his play thus far has been extraordinary. Look for the Packers to be a perennial playoff contender under Rodgers' leadership.
