Adrian Beltre Keeps Mariners Afloat in AL Wild Card; Dodgers Close Gap in NL

Thursday's MLB recap ...
Mariners 8, Devil Rays 7 When your playoff life is on the line, it shouldn't be this difficult to beat the Devil Rays but the Mariners have made it awful hard on themselves the last two nights. Seattle is still 5 ½ back, but stranger things have happened. I mean, Adrian Beltre delivered a clutch hit for instance.
Dodgers 6, Padres 3 Sweet revenge for David Wells. 6 innings pitched, 4 hits and 3 runs. Even better, 2 hits of Greg Maddux. LA is now 1 ½ behind San Diego.
Cubs 6, Astros 2 For at least a day, which is all anyone seems to be able to handle, Chicago leads the NL Central. The "worm has turned" apparently. Whatever you say Lou.
Reds 7, Cardinals 6 7 straight losses for the Cards since the Rick Ankiel HGH news. I'm beginning to think that was leaked by the Cubs or Brewers.
Orioles 3, Angels 0 Baltimore's bullpen allowed just one hit and no runs. True story, I swear.
