Sergio Aguero inspired Manchester City to a 6-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday. The Argentinean hit-man was showered with praise by manager Manuel Pellegrini after the victory. Pellegrini categorized Aguero among the best players in the world; such as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Aguero scored two goals to become the top goal scorer in the Premier League so far. The brace also allowed Aguero to improve his tally of goals to 14 in 11 games. The 25-year-old Argentina international has now scored three braces in his last four home games.

“I think Kun [Aguero], after Messi and Ronaldo, is [in] the top three players in the world,” Pellegrini said.

Alvaro Negredo, who partnered Aguero in the attack, also had a brilliant game. Pellegrini applauded the Spanish striker as well. Pellegrini believes Negredo’s playing style will make him a huge-hit in the Premier League.

“He is the perfect player for the Premier League. I think he is a very important player and very happy here in England,” Pellegrini added. The way the team plays is very comfortable for him and it is easier [to play alongside] beside Kun Aguero.”

Aguero was sparkling with life and flair in Manchester City’s attack, but he had to share the spotlight with another teammate, Jesus Navas. The Spanish winger scored twice and nearly broke the record for the fastest goal in the Premier League.

Pellegrini admits he was surprised to see how easy it had become to defeat Tottenham Hotspur, although they could boast about one of the best defenses in the Premier League.

“It is not normal to win by six goals against a strong team like Tottenham but I think we played really well,” Pellegrini said. “This team have played six games at home and scored 26 goals so we have [averaged] more than four goals a game.”

Manchester City’s defense will be bolstered by the arrival of Vincent Kompany next weekend. The club captain has been out of action since picking up a thigh injury against Everton on October 5.

Pellegrini suggests Kompany will be in the squad for next Sunday’s trip to Swansea City.
