WDEF News 12 reports that the nature of the injury isn't clear, but it will require surgery.
Fowler, a 245-pound power back that is used in primarily I-formations, is the team's current second-leading rusher with 85 yards off 11 carries (7.7 ypc).
Even though the backfield will miss Fowler's huge presence, it will recover and accommodate accordingly.
Alabama has arguably the best running back depth chart in all of college football. Eddie Lacy and T.J. Yeldon are still battling for the bulk of the carries, while freshmen backups Dee Hart, Trey Roberts and Kenyan Drake could likely vie for starting jobs at any other school.
