Alabama has offered a scholarship to a prospective athlete that isn’t even old enough to attend a high school homecoming dance or prom.Blog Photo - Alabama Football: Nick Saban offers scholarship to 8th grader

According to Matt Scalici of AL.com, Nick Saban has offered Baton Rouge (LA) middle-schooler Dylan Moses, who is currently in the 8th grade.

"We met with Coach Saban after lunch, and he talked to Dylan about his future and what he needed to do to achieve his potential as a student and as a football player," Dylan's father Edward Moses Jr told AL.com. "When he said he was offering Dylan a scholarship, we asked a lot of questions just to make sure we knew exactly what he meant.

“Coach Saban said the Alabama staff believes Dylan has a chance to be the best player in the country in the Class of 2017 and they were ready to offer him a scholarship. That's when the fireworks started going off in our heads."

Okay, I’ve heard of getting a leg up on your competition when it comes to recruiting but this is just ridiculous. The kid is 14 years old. Who knows what he will look like or how he will develop by the time he’s a junior or senior in high school?

I understand that he dominates his field – there are a lot of gifted 8th-graders out there – but come on, seriously?

What’s even crazier is that this isn’t Moses’ first offer. LSU dished him a scholarship over the summer, before he had even started school.

Moses, who stands at 6-foot-1, 215 pounds, played both running back and linebacker for his middle school team this past season.

From the footage given below, it looks like he’ll probably get some playing time at the varsity level as a freshman. But is he good enough to earn a scholarship this early from the best program in the country?
