Alabama football: Fan leaves 'Roll Tide' note as a tip

If you're a server, don't piss off an Alabama fan

The restaurant industry is an agonizing way to make a living—believe me, I was stuck in it for five years.

You have to be nice to people you wouldn’t dare talk to outside of the work place, basically become a slave for over 10 hours at a time and hope to God the couple at table five leaves so you can take a two-minute break.

Servers live off of tips, which on most days—depending on where you work—is a do-or-die scenario. That’s why I don’t understand what this guy was thinking.

Apparently Forrest, an Auburn Tigers fan and waiter at some godforsaken restaurant in what I’m assuming is in Virginia (his buddy that tweeted the picture attends James Madison University), gloated about his team’s win over the Crimson Tide following the game on Saturday night.

A devout Alabama fanatic then proceeded to leave him the words “Roll Tide!” in the tip column, and added some advice for future endeavors on the side.

Even though if it were me on the receiving end of that so-called "tip", I wouldn’t help but have to let out a chuckle or two out of respect for the rivalry.

As for the bad tipping, it's sad to know that some people are actually that cheap.

I simply can't believe people would stoop this low over a rivalry. It's not for pride, it's for the game. Even with all the trash-talking between the Dynamo and KC the last two years--which I've repeatedly been a part of--I got along well with some KC fans here in Houston before a game. And I'm a Coogar fan who deals with TX A&M alumni every day, and even though I don't like Manzel and they think UH will never relive its glory days, we never shove it in each others' faces. But I do think the Bama fan should have never done this at work, and the Tide fan should have left a nickel (the ultimate insult: "You'll be needing this soon") and not left a note. IMO, this is almost as bad as the buffet manager who sent the bill with a note reading, "Stop eating, b----!" Leave the trash talking to the game, and let it die when the game is over. And don't do it where you can get in major trouble!

The answer to that question is always yes.
