Alex Rodriguez
3/9/08

Why ins't this guy getting more attention?

Not only does he have over 500 homeruns and 3 MVP, but he's on route to beat Bond's records at a much younger age

I mean the guy is young, and he plays third base which isn't a taxing position

I think it is the duty of the MLB and the Yankees to make this guy a house hold name

If you agree or disagree send me a message back

Rodriguez is one of the game's great garbage-time hitters. He has never come up big when it is important. He'll become a bigger name if/when he produces in the clutch.

To CalBoomer:
Not true. He has come up in the clutch many times with the Yankees. People just seem to choose to remember when he fails and forget when he succeeds. I hate using the "close and late" stat as an indicator of "clutch" (because, really, clutch isn't something you can quantify), but his numbers aren't bad at all in those close and late situations. Other splits people like to look at to measure clutchness are RISP, RISP with 2 out, or go-ahead RBI. Personally, I stick with go-ahead and even game-winning RBI/runs. He's had a crapload of them for the Yankees (and before he was with the Yankees).

To BigBencaleb:
I have to disagree with you. Alex Rodriguez gets plenty of attention. Maybe he doesn't get enough love... most people love to hate on him... but he gets a ton of attention. The media constantly makes non-stories about him into stories. They are obsessed. And I think most people believe he's going to be the HR king, assuming he stays healthy over the remainder of his contract.

A Rod isn't a household name?  He can't blow his nose without it making the front page of the NY tabloids.
