There's little question that the two most ridiculous stories going on in sports right now are Brett Favre and A-Rod. I guess we can at least be somewhat glad that Favre's story relates directly to sports, if nothing else. With A-Rod, it just continues to get weirder and weirder, and less and less about sports. The new news on A-Rod and his attempt to somehow come out of this whole multiple affairs/Madonna mess reasonably well off is that he's enlisted the help of his former sleazeball agent Scott Boras to help work things out.
Yes, this is the same Scott Boras who A-Rod fired after he was won over by Madonna and her Kabbalah crew. That would also be the same Kabbalah crew that told A-Rod to get rid of Boras.
So of course we're starting on totally solid ground.
Anyway, Boras flew to Toronto this weekend where the Yankees were playing the Blue Jays to either - according to the New York Post - hash out a quickie divorce that doesn't fleece A-Rod of millions, or to at least help them calm things down in the media.
The truth is that A-Rod, despite having gotten Cynthia to sign a prenup, could be forced to give her half of his total earnings according to a number of experts. That's, uh, a ton of money. So much money it'd make Greg Norman's $103 million divorce look like chump change. So I guess if you're A-Rod, why not bring in the guy who's best at negotiations? Even if he has no soul. Although, at this point, I'm not so sure A-Rod has one either.
Let's just keep one thing in mind here. Boras somehow managed to get Andruw Jones $15 million a year from the Dodgers. I don't even think the Dodgers would pay Jones $15 right now for his play on the field.
So in other words, we should expect by the time this is all said and done that it'll actually be Cynthia who's paying A-Rod, rather than the other way around. I'm looking forward to it.
