Alex Rodriguez returns to the Yankees

Somehow, Alex Rodriguez really did return to the Yankees on the same day his suspension was handed down

The reaction was different pretty much every time, whether it was Yankees GM Brian Cashman telling him to "shut the f--- up" or just people laughing at him.

Despite all the doubters and detractors, A-Rod somehow managed to appear in a game last night for the Yankees against the White Sox.

There were pretty loud boos all around, even from Yankees fans, who were hoping that they'd never see Rodriguez back in a Yankees uniform. His fall from grace is about as far as any player in MLB history.

Rodriguez is appealing his suspension, which runs through the end of the 2014 season. Assuming a final decision comes down on Thursday, this week could be the last time we'll see him play for an awful long time.

I'll be honest. I was a little shocked that the Yankees even bothered bringing him back up, knowing that a suspension was in progress. What was the point of bringing him back for a couple games?
