Who’s one step closer to hoisting Lord Stanley? The Wrap-Around is your daily update for last nights’ NHL Playoff action.Montreal Flattens Boston In Game 7 Victory.
Usually, game 7's are some of the most exciting games in all of sports. Well, not unless you were a Canadiens fan, as Montreal dominated the Bruins. They outshot them 35-25 and out-hit them 38-24. Mike Komisarek scored the first goal of the game in the first period. In the second period, Mark Streit scored to give them a 2-0 lead. Then Andrei Kostitsyn scored to give them a 3-0 lead after two. It would only get worse for Boston, Andrei would score another goal with 2:02 left, and to make it worse, his brother Sergei scored with 8 seconds to officially end it. The 20 year old goalie Carey Price had a 25 save shutout, the rookie's 2nd shutout of the postseason. Boston put up a good effort, but that game reminds you why they were an 8 seed. Question is, how can Montreal keep up with their conferences' best? If the Flyers win their series, they will be the Canadiens opponent. If not, then the Rangers will be the next team they face.
NHL Head Office Rejoices As Capitals Force Game 7.
More Ovechkin definitely isn't a bad thing for the NHL. Although Flyers fans would rather not see any more. Washington had 40 shots to Philly's 35, Statistically this game for the most part was pretty even. It looked bad from the start for the Caps, as Mike Richards scored early on a powerplay to give the Flyers the lead. Then, early 2nd, Daniel Briere got a powerplay goal to make it a 2-0 lead. But the Caps would score 4 unanswered, the first in the middle of the second by Nicklas Backstrom, and the second late in the period by Alexander Semin. Then, Mr. Ovechkin gave Washington a lead with a goal 3 minutes into the third, and he sealed it middle of the third with another powerplay goal. With that, this series will play game 7 tomorrow.
