Alexei Ramirez launched his fourth grand slam on his rookie year in the bottom of the 6th, nearly sending Hawk Harrelson to the hospital, but more importantly sending the Minnesota Twins on the road to Chicago to settle the AL Central.
We didn't want to go a day without baseball, anyway, did we?
On the last day of September, the Twins will meet the White Sox tonight at US Cellular Field at 7:30 on TBS.
I don't know how other Cubs fans feel, but I'm rooting for the White Sox tonight and throughout the AL Playoffs, providing the Cubbies are still involved. My pipe dream of a Windy City World Series remains alive and I think we all just want to see what would happen to the city in such a scenario.
One Sox I've been rooting for all year is Alexei Ramirez. There's nothing not to like about this guy. He's a 26-year-old rookie who loves the game as much as anyone. He has to hold smiles back in the middle of games, and he can play any position asked. More than anything, despite his leading the league in grand slams, he know for certain the man is not on the juice.
He's listed at 6'3, 185. Very few are buying that latter figure. Sun-Times columnist Greg Couch asked a fan about Alexei and the juice, to which the appropriate response was given:
''He's barely on food.''
We're fans of Aramis on the North Side, but it's hard to argue against Alexei being Chicago's most popular Ramirez this morning.
