If you think back to the Beijing Olympics, there are probably two Olympians that come to mind very quickly: Alicia Sacramone and Leryn Franco. Which is odd when you think about it, seeing as Sacramone spent most of the Olympics screwing up every gynastics routine she did and Franco finished second to last in the javelin. So why exactly do we remember them? Oh yes, they're hot. And while Franco has turned to modeling, Sacramone has bigger and better plans. Well, not really, but I'll just get to the point. She wants to appear on a reality TV show. Sacramone has apparently been in touch with MTV, Bravo, A&E and Style for a television show about her fashion sense. She's been working with Lou Reda Productions, which said it was "very intrigued by Alicia during the Olympics and thought she’d be great on TV." By which they mean "she's attractive enough to hopefully pull in some of the lucrative 15 to 35-year-old male audience."
Anyhow, she's already working to get a gig, so let's see what we could ultimately be treated to.
For her reel, Sacramone - who designed all her costumes for the Summer Olympics - treated 13-year-old Sarah DiNatale of Needham to a makeover.
First off, the gals had a breakfast of champions at Sonsie. Then it was hair and makeup lessons at Salon Persona, where the gymnast’s mom, Gail, works. After that, they hit H & M, where Alicia whipped together a rock-star outfit for Sarah for under $100.
Yeah, I won't lie. I'm not really going to watch that. What about plan B?
She and her cameras popped in on Boston desginer Denise Hajjar, where Alicia applied for an internship - yet another reality show idea.
Strike two.
When did we forget what reality TV is about? It's not about helping young girls create affordable outfits, it's about people making idiots of themselves or getting fired or simply wandering around and looking more attractive than we are. Which gives me a great idea for a reality show: Bikini gymnastics. Sure, it doesn't make a lot sense, but I know a lot of people would watch it. No need to thank me, Lou Reda Productions. Just make it happen.
