American League Championship Series Game 4 Live Thread: Los Angeles Angels vs New York Yankees
Either The Angels Hold Serve At Home, Or This Series Is Basically Over [ALCS Game 4 Live Thread]
The Angels won a great game last night, and they're hoping they can pull off the same thing tonight to tie up the ALCS at 2 games apiece. If not, they'll trail 3 games to 1, and they'll have to win 3 in a row, 2 of which will be at Yankee Stadium. Needless to say, this game is pivotal.

Scott Kazmir will take the mound for the Angels against Yankees ace CC Sabathia. Sabathia is pitching on 3 days rest, but he showed that he's more than capable of doing that last year, when he pitched almost the entire last month of the season on 3 days rest.

The game starts at 7:57 pm ET on FOX, so if you're watching, chat it up with us here. 68% of FanIQ users predict the Yankees will win tonight... what do you think? Watch it and talk about the game here. As always, enjoy the game!

what was THAT call, that is a double play all the way,,,,how can the ump blow that one when he is standing 3 feet from it??????
I have no idea. The umpiring has been awful throughout the postseason, but this game is taking it to a new level.

At the beginning of this series, I would've let Joba Chamberlain start this game. But right now, I would definitley give the start to CC.

Hope Joe Giradi doesn't mess up any pitching changes again today.

I am still scratching my head on pulling Robertson.  He is pitching amazingly right now and he gets the hook.  I have not questioned Girardi a lot but watching him read his scouting report, I think he overthought the whole thing big time.  He is turning into a really good manager but he has to stop overthinking and go with his gut.  I know he was battling his mind with his gut on that one and his mind beat the gut.  The gut would have been correct.

at least it didn't lead to a run, i sure would like to hear Seligs explanation of that one....these umps are supposed to be the best..and that is scary......

Pretty simple.  That call on Swisher leaving early was a give me back on the poor call at second on the tag from Aybar and the perfect throw from kazmir....perfect throw.  I am glad they did that because there would have been a lot of * about that.

But what about the play that should have been a double play by Napoli when he tagged BOTH runners at 3rd base after running down Posada, and only 1 of them was called out?

No doubt about it...like the Yankees need any extra help...this has been terrible.  Bad check swing calls...bad calls on corners from pitchers on both teams.  They are ruining what could be a classic of a series.  Instead of a 1 run extra inning game now the Yankees are running away with it.  Gotta say that I don't like winning like that and I would rather watch the Yankees win in 13 instead of a blowout.

This is such a shame...how can they make so many bad calls...i mean they have been blowing calls at first over and over too for both teams safe and out.  This is outrageous.  Has to be the most horrible umping I have seen in .......forever.  The Angels have been beating themselves too.  Good throw from Rivera and out at home.  Good throw while A Rod headed home...out too.  The Angels are beating themselves as much as the Yankees are beating them.  I aint no homer.  I admit it when I see it.  Umps horrible, Angels beating themselves.  Then the phenominal lineup of the Yankees.  The only way the Angels have a chance is by playing great baseball.  And that they are not. We can go back to games 1 and 2 on same thing.  Angels are giving the Yankees too many chances to succeed.

One more rant...and it really P$%ses me off that the Yankees may go through this with an asterisk.  Even if the press does not give them one I already have.

If anyone is wondering what Bob is referring to, this is apparently safe:

And this is safe, too:

So in case anyone did not see these plays, this is what Bob is talking about. Simply bizarre and inexplicably bad umpiring. The Yankees are playing well enough to win this game, the umps do not need to help them. Especially not as blatantly as this. It's embarrassing.

DITTO Pat.  I am miffed.  Umps have blown my fun and I have already slapped an asterisk on this series.

If this were scored not by runs but by bad calls...talking beginning of series to now...Angels are winning with at least 8 bad calls against them to about 4 against the Yankees...I am talking balls and strikes too.  That is why I put an asterisk there.  Just my reasoning.  RRRRRRRGGGGHHHHHH  Friggin Umps blowing a great time of the year...Football in the snow (Pat knows what Im talking about) and Baseball at its highest level.

Ah, yes. Football in the snow, indeed. That Patriots-Titans game was ugly in a lot of ways, but the retro uniforms and the snow combined for a beautiful sight.
