An Evening with Steve Nash: Thursday Night NBA Thread

If it wasn't already obvious, I'm completely in the bag for Steve Nash. Man crush, whatever your term is, he tops my list as favorite professional athlete. I'm not alone in that department to be sure. It helps that he has a brand like Nike that cultivates his image so well. There isn't a cooler athlete in sports.

More NBA debuts tonight, most notably the Phoenix Suns who departed the playoffs last season with David Stern stamped all over them. Miami and Detroit tip it off in the early game sans Dwyane Wade from Robbins, Illinois. If hoops is what you're watching, chat it up here.

Is there anything more boring than an NBA game with two Eastern Conference teams not called the Celtics or Bulls?

Yeah, you're definitely not alone there.

of course the rules crap has to come up again... good grief... Its 11/1/2007... not April-May 2007 when it happened... time to focus forward, and not backwards. The Suns have a promising future ahead, and no need to look at the past. Same for the Spurs... last year's title means nothing at this point. It is back to work just like everyone else.

Kevin Durant needs a cooler number than 35.

Shawn Marion really needs to stop shooting 3s.

Wow - what a shot by Wilkins to end the half!

Sonics are really impressive tonight. having that first game rust out of the way has clearly helped.

amen. Now, finally, I'm excited about the NBA being here.

The Suns have apparently lost 7 of their last 8 season openers.

Sonics are doing a great job staying with them. They should be a fun team to watch this season.

Well they started out last year by losing to the Kobe-less Lakers, which might be the worst loss by any team last year, and still did alright.

It's nice to see that Kevin Pittsnogle will not be unemployed.

I said the exact same thing. They have some of the most creative team names in the D-League. This draft is pretty funny too. Almost a see if you remember semi good college players.

Darvin Ham was the number 3 pick in the D-League Draft.

Unreal. Hopefully it's not being overlooked that not only are the Suns putting their best defender on Durant, they're also double teaming him whenever possible. This is a rookie in his second game. I'd be surprised if that happened to Lebron. Maybe Shaq.

This 4th Q goes to show you how even in the NBA regular season it takes time to learn how to win games.

They do their draft like a fantasy football or basketball draft. First pick gets the last pick of the second round.

It takes a lot to be able to run with the Suns as long as they did, especially on the 2nd game of a back-to-back. Seattle did a great job playing with the Suns tonight, they're just going to come up a bit short.

I love the fact the Suns look genuinely pumped to win this game tonight

Sadly it is true, and the analysis team might be better than Scott, Walton, and Smith last night.

I hate to do this but I just made this to test if all of us NBA fans know our D-League teams.

Yea, he also just said a guy is going to be a sure fire All-Star, D-League All-Star that is.

So will there be a recap post for the D-League Draft tomorrow morning?
