Bruins defenseman Andrew Ference will be meeting with the Department of Player Safety today to discuss this hit on Toronto center Mikhail Grabovski.

Maple Leafs coach Randy Carlyle was actually pretty kind in his evaluation of the play, saying that Ference was just playing within the game:

"To me, those are hits in the game. Sometimes in the playoffs, you’re going to see physicality. It’ll be front and center. It’s a game that’s made to be physical. You’re allowed to hit people. To judge if it was offside, a bad hit or a belligerent hit, that’s not for me to judge. That’s for people in the league to make those determinations."

Of course, he included that last part, where he said it's for the league office to make the call, so obviously he knows that they'll be addressing Ference's hit, and he'll probably face some sort of punishment.

Here's the video:

What do you think? Should Ference get suspended for this hit? Should he be fined? Or should the NHL just let it slide?

Of course Randy Carlyle would say that - the man doesn't know the difference between dirty and gritty on the ice.

I know things happen, and I don't know if it was intentional or not, but it appears as if Ference threw the bow up into Grabovski's face. Pretty sure that's not okay. As for suspension, maybe a couple of games.
