Andy Reid's oldest son Garrett has died

Early this morning, reports surfaced that Eagles coach Andy Reid was absent from the Eagles' workout. The team declined to give a reason for it, only saying that it was for "personal reasons," but it has now been revealed that his oldest son, Garrett, is dead.

Reid asked that players continue workouts without him.

Eagles GM Howie Roseman made the announcement shortly before 10 a.m. today, and encouraged fans and players to be strong for their coach in this difficult time.

An investigation is ongoing, but no foul play is suspected at this time.
