Another Jordan scores! Juanita Jordan increases her salary cap

Other Jordans are making news these days. Hardly a week goes by that a Chicago paper doesn't have an article about Jeffrey and Marcus Jordan helping their private school win another basketball game. But this week, it was Mother Jordan (left, feeling for wallet) stealing headlines from His Airness.

Friday afternoon, Juanita testified in court that the couple had tried counseling. Michael Jordan was not in court and was represented by his attorneys. Friday's proceeding took about 1½ hours. Because both had agreed on how to split the assets, details of the Jordan finances were hidden from public access. "Typical Michael fashion: All of the i's were dotted and the t's were crossed," one friend of Juanita Jordan said.

The Jordans wed at 3:30 a.m. on Sept. 2, 1989, in the Little White Chapel in Las Vegas when son Jeffrey was 10 months old. She had filed a paternity suit against him. Hard to believe with that foundation, this marriage did not work.

At one point in their marriage, Juanita reportedly hired a private detective to tail Jordan on the road for four years. Sources said she had threatened to leave him several times. "These are two people who have lived separately -- except for raising their children -- for quite a long time," said one of Juanita Jordan's close friends, speaking on condition of anonymity.

And so, Juanita scores a big payday and the price was simply humbling herself for years, knowing MJ was going to wander. His eyes were on other ladies, while her eyes were on the cash.

Maybe this isn't much of a story, since around half of U.S. marriages end in divorce. Maybe it isn't much of a story as MJ is no longer MJ the player. Maybe it isn't much of a story because MJ best pal Charles Oakley hasn't offered his colorful take yet.

To me, it is an interesting story as it coincides with the international sports/marketing/nike uber athlete that MJ passed the torch to, Tiger Woods, announcement that he and his wife, are starting a family. Maybe, just maybe, Michael choreographed that too....

still too much.  My pre-nup says that in the event of a divorce we split ALL possession (house, cars, etc...) bought within the marriage, but you leave with your own money and that's it.  No alimony, no spliting bank accounts.  Child support, should the children choose to live with their mother, will not exceed 10 grand a month (more then enough to raise a child on).

And this is regardless of why we divorce.  Doesn't matter who cheats, who earns more money, whatever...this is how it's going down.  Now of course I could chooose to give her more...but it will be my choice, not some judges.

These players are dumb.  And encase anybody was wondering, the women I had planned to marry already agreed to sign it no problem...cause as long as we stay together it's a none issue.

10 Grand a month?!?  Damn Beaze, what do you do for a living?

jordan did have a POST-nup, three years into their marriage, which was still before he was air jordan. i doubt the split was anything close to 50/50, but if juanita gets even only 10 percent, that is more money that i will ever see.

All I have to say is...this is the reason for pre-nups.

If Jordan had protected his money and had an ironclad pre-nup that says she doesn't get a dime then this wouldn't have happened.

If Jordan had taken the time to get to know the woman a little better, and not gotten her knocked up before he was ready to get married, and if they had perhaps spent a little more time working on their marriage, and less on, for example, trying to become a professional BASEBALL player, then I would venture to say that this wouldn't have happened.

I understand the concept of a pre-nuptual agreement, and I think they are good in a lot of cases, but it's sad that they're so necessary in society today. And it's sad that it's one of the first thing that comes to mind when people hear about a story like this.

It's interesting how Jordan was able to get a free media pass throughout his career and currently. If Ron Artest lived his affair laden lifestyle of gambling he'd be the target of a great deal of scrutiny.
