Blog Photo - Anthony Davis starting the season wellAnthony Davis's rookie season with the then New Orleans Hornets was not bad. He averaged 13.5 points per game, 8.2 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks as he learned the intricacies of the NBA. This season is still young, but Davis, now a Pelican, is starting to show why he was drafted #1 in 2012.

Through six games this season, his averages are up to 23.0 PPG, 11.5 RPG, and 4.3 blocks per game. All of those numbers rank in the top 11 overall, with blocks not surprisingly being the highest at 2nd. His latest masterpiece came last night against the Lakers. Davis scored a career high 32 points, while pulling down 12 boards and blocking 6 shots. He also had this monster dunk (helped by a Lakers defense that wanted no part of that).

For the Pelicans to make the playoffs in the crowded West, one of the things that has to happen is Davis making a huge leap. So far, so good.
