Antoine Walker was pulled over early this morning in Miami Beach and charged with suspicion of drunk driving. The former Celtics star, who also spent time with the Mavericks, Hawks, Timberwolves and Heat (where he was part of their championship run), was apparently following in the footsteps of Charles Barkley, who was recently charged with the same thing.Walker was pullled over at 5:39 am while driving his black Mercedes with the lights off. According to the AP report, the police officer detected a strong odor of alcohol, and a sleepy look on Walker's face. He refused to take a breathalyzer test, and was held today on $1,000 bond.
There's no word yet on how Walker will react to this, but it definitely will hamper Walker's attempts to get back into the NBA. He has already had issues in the past with conditioning, as well as poor shot selection while he was with the Celtics.
We'll keep you updated if and when the story develops, but at first glance, it looks like the NBA might want to look into a taxi service for their former players. Barkley, and now Walker, in the span of about a week. This is not a good sign for hefty former NBA ballers.
