Apartment fire results in Kevin Ellisonís arrest on arson charges
Authorities responded to a fire alert by another unit on its’ way to an emergency call, and upon their arrival at the scene at 5:30 AM, they discovered the apartment complex engulfed in flames. The building included the residence of none other than the former San Diego Chargers safety Kevin Ellison. Currently Kevin Ellison is playing linebacker in the Arena Football League for the team Spokane Shock.
Kevin Ellison was the only resident of the apartment complex to be hospitalized for smoke inhalation. During an investigation into the fire incident, Kevin Ellison confessed to the authorities that he was lying in the bed smoking, when “God” told him to light the bed with his marijuana-filled cigar. Kevin Ellison’s roommate and Spokane Shock teammate Chris Tucker woke up to the alarms of smoke detectors and knocked on his door to enquire if everything was alright.
"He pounded on the door and it was too hot," Spokane Valley Fire Marshal Kevin Miller, who was investigating the fire incident, said in a press conference.
Kevin Ellison responded, “I’m good.” Hence, after alerting the neighbors, Chris Tucker fled the building. Eventually the room was filled with flames and Kevin Ellison jumped had to jump from the third story to make an escape.
Fire Marshal Kevin Miller confirmed that after the confession, Kevin Ellison is being pressed with federal arson charges. The 25-yaer-old will remain in jail without bail until a 19th June hearing decides his situation with bail and the status of a trail.
Kevin Ellison was a USC standout drafted in the sixth round by the San Diego Chargers in 2009. During his rookie season, Kevin Ellison appeared in 13 games and made nine starts for the San Diego Chargers. However, Kevin Ellison was charged with possession of controlled substances when during a routine traffic check police discovered a bottle of Vicodin without prescription containing at least 100 pills.
Consequently, Kevin Ellison was waived during offseason, and quickly acquired by the Seattle Seahawks who lacked mature players in the depth. Kevin Ellison failed to revive his once bright career even with the Seattle Seahawks. Kevin Ellison got no playing time with the Seattle Seahawks and was waived before the start of 2010 season when he failed to clear his physicals.
Spokane Shock owner Brady Nelson indicated that Kevin Ellison had been behaving oddly for a while now. The very same night as the fire incident, Kevin Ellison sent out texts to several individuals, declaring himself Jesus a “part of the Second Coming.”
The AFL still awaits the results of the investigation; until then Kevin Ellison has been suspended. Brady Nelson has expressed that the doors of Spokane Shock will remain close to Kevin Ellison if the arson charges are proven against him.
