Are Sports Fans Not Watching the Christmas NBA Games?

Blog Photo - Are Sports Fans Not Watching the Christmas NBA Games?

The results of this poll baffled me. Of the 118,817 people who logged on to ESPN.com on Christmas day, 52% planned to watch none of the marquee matchups the NBA had hand picked for us sports fans. Nets-Bulls, Knicks-Thunder, Heat-Lakers, Rockets-Spurs and Clippers-Warriors.

Did the NBA strike out by choosing teams like the Nets, Knicks, and Bryant-less Lakers for primetime, or are these results skewed? Perhaps 52% of those on ESPN.com yesterday morning were there because they were seeking out basketball scores and the rest of the sports world was comfortable settled into their couch awaiting a day of NBA-Christmas action. Honestly, I have no clue, so I put it to the FanIQ readers.

What were your thoughts on Christmas Day NBA games? Do you watch them? Or was it just that this particular batch was rotten because of a couple of New York teams I won't call out by name?

I don't watch NBA anyway, but if they had NFL on Christmas day I would probably watch it. And hockey. Maybe...I dunno.Generally we just have Christmas movies playing all day.

I didn't bother, usually don't. I have other stuff going on to be watching sports on TV. I don't even really watch much of the NFL on Thanksgiving, it's just bad timing for me usually.

Anyone on the site who knows me, knows I don't watch much of NBA to begin with, so I would have been in that 52%.  I admit, I did check in to see what sports WERE on TV, but I spent my Christmas with friends and family, nowhere near a television set.  Perhaps that's what the 52% were doing as well?
