Are The Colts Contenders?

Andrew Luck has lead them through all of it with 10 game-winning or game-tying drives in the 4th quarter in just 20 regular season games. But after losing veteran wide receiver Reggie Wayne for the season can he keep his offense running the way he wants to?

The Colts defense, led by defensive end and potential defensive player of the year Robert Mathis, has looked very good this year, and at other times terrible. Like in Week 3 against San Francisco the Colts only allowed 7 points against a very high-powered 49ers team. But last week on primetime the Colts DBs got torched by Andre Johnson, who before that game had not caught a single touchdown all year. Johnson went for over 230 yards, and 3 touchdowns.

This Colts team reminds me of the 09’ team. Very high-powered offense, at times can be one of the best in the league. The defense can put pressure on the QB. And what the 09’ team lacked was good DBs. If you look at the game film, the Colts are playing like Super Bowl contenders. All the pieces are in place; all they have to do now is perform at the highest level.

But we have all seen teams like this before who have the talent, but cannot get it done. I hate to bring it up as a Colts fan, but this reminds me of the Manning years. He put the Colts in such good spots, but could not get it done in the playoffs. Hopefully Andrew can change that, and bring home some Lombardi’s to Indianapolis.

I feel that they are. Luck is playing very good. And Defense is playing at a very high level.
