The Houston Texans came into Gillette Stadium about a month ago, and were unceremoniously taken to the woodshed. Now, they're heading back to the scene of their previous embarrassment to take on the Patriots again on Sunday afternoon in the divisional round of the NFL playoffs.
According to Boston columnist Dan Shaughnessy, the Skip Bayless of Boston sportswriting, the Texans are nothing but an additional bye for the Patriots.
Texans running back Arian Foster read the story, and has used the first three paragraphs as his twitter avatar, for motivation.
Here it is, in case you missed it:
Honestly, I believe the Patriots will win. But Shaughnessy's column is nothing short of low-level trolling at its worst.
The Texans aren't fraudulent. They're the 3rd best team in the AFC, just like their 3rd seed implies.
While it may not look great for them against the Patriots, they have one of the best RB in the league in Foster, and one of the best defensive players in JJ Watt.
The midseason loss of Brian Cushing definitely was a huge blow to their defense, and the numbers bear that out.
Perhaps that's why they looked so much better in the beginning of the season, but that doesn't make them frauds.
Let's hope this doesn't inspire them too much.

Was it ever anything but that?
