Barcelona have set their sights Arsenal’s star midfielder Alex Song. Barcelona’s new manager Tito Vilanova fought tooth and nail to acquire the bragging rights for Athletic Bilbao’s Javi Martinez, but the deal fell apart for a ton of reasons.
 
Athletic Bilbao’s outrageous transfer fee demands and Javi Martinez’s pompous attitude towards other clubs is thought to be the reason behind the snub.
 
In the midst of this Barcelona admits interest in Arsenal midfielder Alex Song. Although, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is unwilling to lose Alex Song, the Frenchman is willing to let him go of their rivaling club comes up with a good bid.
 
Last week, Arsene Wenger took back his earlier stance on Alex Song’s transfer. Instead, Arsene Wenger said that he was willing to let go Alex Song, but Barcelona will have to come up with a good bid for their coveted midfielder.
 
Now, officials from London have revealed that Arsene Wenger desires Cristian Tello on his squad. Rife rumors suggest Arsenal is negotiating a player plus cash deal for Alex Song. The deal would include £20 million and Cristian Tello.
 
Barcelona will not be willing to pay more than £20 million for Alex Song in any form. Moreover, Barcelona manager Tito Vilanova is unwilling to lose any players from his squad, especially the young Cristian Tello.
 
Barcelona has already snubbed Liverpool’s attempt to bring Cristian Tello to Anfield.
 
According to reports, Barcelona and Arsenal are at the table discussing the future of Alex Song. The 24-year-old Cameroon international has made 204 appearances for Arsenal, scored 10 goals and provided 24 assists.
 
Last season, Alex Song was in superb form. The centre midfielder scored only one goal, but he provided 14 assists in 46 games last season. His outstanding statistics have attracted a lot of interest from Europe.
 
With just a week left before the new season begins, Arsenal and Barcelona will have to put their negotiations on the fast track if they hope to agree to a deal.  
 
Arsene Wenger, who is bent on brining Cristian Tello to Arsenal, will be happy if Ibrahim Afellay arrives at the Emirates. The Frenchman is an avid fan of the Netherlands international and has been after the young winger since last summer.
