Arsenal approach Man Utd with shocking bid for the out of favor Nani
Manchester United’s out of favor star Nani is fully expected to leave the club this fall, yet the future destination of the Portuguese winger remains a mystery. The Old Trafford boss Sir Alex Ferguson earlier declared he had no space for Nani in his squad. This indicates Nani will be up for sale in the transfer market this January.
A large number of top notch clubs from Europe have shown interest in acquiring Nani’s services since summer. The list of clubs ready to sign in Nani includes Juventus, Inter Milan, Paris Saint-Germain, Porto, Zenit St. Petersburg and more recently Arsenal.
Nani is currently on the Manchester United bench due to an injury, but even if he was fit to play Sir Alex Ferguson wouldn’t be willing to put him on the field. In spite of recording good form last season, Nani has been unable to impress Sir Alex Ferguson this season. The Scotsman has provided Nani with a plethora of chances, but the 26-year-old Portugal international is having a hard time fitting into the versatile Manchester United team.
The former Sporting CP player admits he feels like having one foot out of the door already. Nani, who was held responsible for Manchester United’s League Cup defeat to Chelsea, has appeared in 11 games and scored only two goals.
Rumors of Arsenal’s interest in Nani have been corroborated by a number of media outlets. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is hoping to benefit from the unsettled situation between Manchester United and Nani to acquire the forward at a cut-price deal, even though Sir Alex Ferguson has already declared that he won’t sell off Nani for pennies.
Arsene Wenger is keen on adding attacking options to his squad during the January transfer window. The Frenchman’s summer signings Santi Cazorla, Lukas Podolski and Oliver Giroud have been unable to provide Arsenal with a sensational start to the season, which is why the under-pressured manager is looking for cheap but talented backups.
Arsenal fans are spilt on whether the club would benefit from the arrival of Nani, after all the Portuguese star has a lot of attitude issues. Nonetheless, Nani has proven to be an excellent contingency plan for Manchester United in the past. Therefore, Arsene Wenger would attempt to lure him in during the winters.
Nani’s contract with Manchester United will expire at the end of the season, which is why Sir Alex Ferguson will be keen on offloading him rather than losing him for free in the summers.
