Arsenal are reportedly preparing a bid for Barcelona star Alexis Sanchez. Reports suggest Arsene Wenger is ready to bring the out of favor Chilean striker from Nou Camp to the Emirates this summer.
Alexis Sanchez has fallen down the pecking order in Barcelona’s squad this season. The 24-year-old forward has started in only 11 La Liga games and has recorded two goals and four assists. Arsene Wenger is believed to be a long-time admirer of Alexis Sanchez, which is why he is going to give him a way to rejuvenate his career.
However, Arsene Wenger will have to battle for Alexis Sanchez’s services with other clubs. Liverpool, Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Inter Milan are also potential suitors for the Chile international.
Liverpool are in danger of losing their star striker Luis Suarez to Bayern Munich or Barcelona this summer, which is why they are keen on replacing him with Alexis Sanchez, who could be acquired at a cut-price because of his lack of form.
Alexis Sanchez created a lot of hype in his debut season at Barcelona. After being bought from Udinese in 2011, the Chilean forward scored 12 goals and assists five times in 20 La Liga appearances.
Barcelona is expected to sign in Neymar at the end of this season. Since, Alexis Sanchez has failed to live up to expectations he is set to be overshadowed by any new signing Barcelona make.
The Daily Mail reports Arsenal is set to make a big signing this season because of inconsistent performances in their attack. Arsenal’s chances of signing in Alexis Sanchez have been given a huge boost by comments from Udinese’s former Sporting Director Fabrizio Larini, who claims Arsenal’s gameplay will complement Alexis Sanchez’s style of play.
“Sanchez needs to play the ball on the ground, just like Arsenal. That would be his ideal game. I do not know his current situation at the Spanish club. But his fitness problems have definitely limited his performances.
“The only thing that these teams will have to consider is that he is a player who needs freedom to play his way. In teams that have particularly rigid patterns of play he might have a few problems,” Fabrizio Larini said.
Tottenham Hotspur are expected to fight Arsenal for Alexis Sanchez’s services. Since they are set to win a Champions League spot instead of Arsenal, they might actually win Alex Sanchez’s signature as well.
