Arsenal are linked to the unsettled Athletic Bilbao striker Fernando Llorente once again. Reportedly, Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla is attempting to persuade his compatriot into making a move in the January transfer window.

Fernando Llorente has been object of interest for a long list of clubs in the past couple of years. Top notch clubs from Europe such as Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus, Inter Milan, Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal have been linked to Fernando Llorente.

The 27-year-old Spain international will be out of contract with Athletic Bilbao next summer. The Spanish outfit is trying to get Fernando Llorente’s signature on an extension contract, but the striker desires a big money move into a Premier League club.

Once Fernando Llorente enters the last six months of his contract with Athletic Bilbao, the Spaniard will be allowed to directly negotiate over a transfer deal with other clubs. Therefore, Athletic Bilbao could sell him off during the January transfer window in order to avoid losing him for free.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been a longtime admirer Fernando Llorente. The Frenchman first attempted to sign in the striker three years ago, but the Spain international decided to remain in Spain.

Arsene Wenger wants to further bolster his attack during the January transfer window. However, the Frenchman spent a large quantity of his transfer funds on Santi Cazorla, Lukas Podolski and Oliver Giroud during the summer transfer window.

Luckily, Athletic Bilbao are forced to sell off Fernando Llorente for a cut-price. Injuries and locker-room issues have kept Fernando Llorente off the field. The Spaniard’s form has also been affected because of this. Presently, Fernando Llorente has scored only two goals in 13 appearances this season.

A move into a Premier League club seems imminent for Fernando Llorente. Just recently he was quoted saying: “I really like the Premier League and I've mentioned on more than one occasion that it's a league which appeals to me a lot.

“You never know. It's one good option in terms of my future but we'll have to wait until the end of the season to see what happens.”
