Arsene Wenger believes Arsenal can record go unbeaten rest of the season
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has lauded his team for making an impressive comeback from a “very, very difficult position” in the Premier League. The French boss believes his side can now end the season with an unbeaten run.
The goalless draw against Everton at the Emirates wasn’t exactly what the Gunners had been hoping for, yet it helped the London outfit remain in contention for a Champions League berth, which is their main objective this season.
The 0-0 draw with Everton on Tuesday was the first time Arsene Wenger and Co. weren’t able to win in five games, still the results of the game did help them finish ahead of Tottenham Hotspur. However, Tottenham Hotspur have the opportunity to grab the lead once again since they have a game in hand.
Nonetheless, Arsenal’s rejuvenation has been quite impressive as their last defeat occurred against Tottenham Hotspur, a point in time where the Gunners were seven points off them on the Premier League table.
“I believe we will do it [finish in the top four] but it is down to our performances. It is down to us performing until the end, as we did recently. We bounced back from a very, very difficult position but we still have a lot of work to do,” Arsene Wenger said.
“It could [go the last day]. The only way we can deal with the situation is to win our games. We won eight of the last nine and had a draw against Everton, which can happen to anybody. I believe that we just want to keep that strong run going until the end. We know for us it is needed to be successful.
“We have put a fantastic run together. We want to continue that. I said to you many times that we have no room to drop points after we lost against Chelsea and we lost against Tottenham. After the Tottenham game I told you we have no room to drop points and that's where we are. We know that if we play well we can win everywhere.”
Arsenal have only five games remaining in the season from which only Manchester United can pose as threat to their unbeaten run. On the other hand, Tottenham Hotspur have six game in hands, but they still have to play against Manchester City and Chelsea.
