Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger seems to be pretty happy with his midfield. In spite of losing stars such as Cesc Fabregas, Samir Nasri and Alex Song in recent years; the Frenchman has managed to muster a squad that is capable of fighting in the top flight.

However, losing Alex Song to Barcelona appears to have dented Arsenal’s team chemistry. The London club has found it hard to find a replacement for the versatile midfielder after the Cameroon international left Arsenal to join Barcelona last summer.

Now, it appears as if Arsenal have to opportunity to bring back Alex Song for cut-price. Surprisingly, Arsene Wenger has turned down the opportunity to bring back the central midfielder.

Alex Song has become an out of favor player, who has seldom played in true position at Arsenal. It is believed Arsene Wenger hopes to make an example out of the 25-year-old midfielder, who decided to go against the club’s wishes to join Barcelona.

Alex Song has appeared in only 23 games this season and most of the times as a defender. Many claim Alex Song to be the worst signing of the season. Alex Song’s survival at Barcelona has become worse in absence of their cancer stricken manager Tito Vilanova.

Arsene Wenger replaced the void left by Alex Song by signing in Mikel Arteta from Everton. The midfielder has proven to be a useful in Arsenal’s attack, but needs to improve defensively.

Alex Song’s re-emergence in the football market initially interested Arsene Wenger, but now the French boss is set to exercise his attention elsewhere. It is believed Arsene Wenger is attempting to capture the in-demand Celtic midfielder Victor Wanyama.

Victory Wanyama, the Kenyan who played a pivotal role in Celtic’s 2-1 victory over Barcelona earlier this season, is wanted by Manchester United as well. Arsene Wenger hopes to outbid Sir Alex Ferguson for the services of the 21-year-old midfielder.

A £10 million price tag has been placed on Victor Wanyama, but the price is expected to increase with an increase interest. Therefore, Victor Wanyama is expected to be sold in the £15-20 million region.
