Will Belichick land on his feet?
It was just a matter of time. Joining other victims of Black Monday such as Jim Schwartz and Greg Schiano, Bill Belichick has been fired as the head coach of the New England Patriots.
Said Robert Kraft in a statement,
"I'm sure it comes as no surprise that this organization has decided to part ways with Bill Belichick. Bill began here with great aspirations and has undoubtedly failed to meet the excellent standard that he himself set for this franchise. To say that we are disappointed in what Bill has accomplished as a New England Patriot would be an understatement."
Additional reports have begun to emerge detailing the numerous ways in which Belichick worked his way out of a job: a total lack of preparation on a weekly basis, an absence of trust between he and his players, and his gregarious, borderline-unprofessional nature with the media.
Given the overwhelming negativity surrounding his tenure with the Patriots, it's very unlikely that Belichick will be able to find a job elsewhere in the NFL. He would do well to consider making the switch to television, where his warm personality and off-color commentary would be a welcomed addition to any network.
