To list every single thing the Astros did terribly on this play is too tall a task for one man, so I will just point out my favorite moment during this embarrassing defensive meltdown: after the 3rd baseman Matt Downs charges the bunt but is beaten to the ball by 1st baseman Steve Pearce, Downs, a victim of his own momentum, has to dive across Pearce's throw to get out of the way. Wait, why am I using words to describe this?

That's more like it. Check out the whole video at Deadspin here, and please, feel free to .GIF more of this gaffe. We can even weave our .GIFs together and make a quilt of ineptitude!
The Nationals would go on to lose this game 5-4, the winning run scoring on what was just supposed to be a sacrifice bunt.
