Atletico Madrid star Radamel Falcao agrees contractual personal terms with Chelsea
Reports from England confirm a gentleman’s agreement has been reached between Atletico Madrid star Radamel Falcao and Chelsea. Officials from both ends have informed that Radamel Falcao has agreed personal terms of a contract that will see him move into the Champions League winning side Chelsea this fall.
In spite of Atletico Madrid’s reluctance to sell Radamel Falcao a deal between the Spanish outfit and Chelsea is about to come into reality. The mega-deal is set to be formulated in the January transfer window.
The 26-year-old Colombian international has been attracted a lot of interest from top notch clubs around Europe. Radamel Falcao has been linked with moves to Real Madrid, Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City and Manchester United.
Earlier in the season Radamel Falcao expressed desire to spend another season with Atletico Madrid. However, Chelsea pursued the striker and convinced him into moving to Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea’s lack of attack has been of great concern to Roberto Di Matteo. The Chelsea boss has only two strikers in his squad; Fernando Torres and Daniel Sturridge. Roberto Di Matteo plans on selling of Daniel Sturridge in the winter transfer window to make room for Radamel Falcao.
Radamel Falcao has a £48 million release clause in his contract with Atletico Madrid, which means that Chelsea will have to pay a humongous amount of transfer fees in order to win the services of the Colombian goal-scoring machine.
Since joining Atletico Madrid from Porto in 2011, Radamel Falcao has scored 49 goals in 60 appearances for the Spanish outfit. During his three seasons at Porto, Radamel Falcao scored 72 goals in only 87 appearances.
The £50 million-rated Fernando Torres, who has yet to justify his place in Chelsea’s first team, could be benched by the arrival of Radamel Falcao. The Spain international has scored only seven goals in 18 appearances for Chelsea this season.
Radamel Falcao, who is categorized with world class players such as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, will deliver a huge impact in Chelsea’s attack. With the likes of Oscar, Hazard and Mata present to feed him goal-scoring opportunities, Chelsea seems to be heading for bright future.
