Evans then proceeded to announce that he would be signing with Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Oops.

The five-star linebacker played his high school ball at Auburn High School in Auburn, Alabama, so naturally, many expected Gus Malzahn and his staff to make him a member of the Tigers on Signing Day.

The Auburn website staff certainly expected it:

That minor mistake was pulled rather quickly.

As for the Tide landing Evans, well, it's yet another gem in what may be the best recruiting class that Saban has had during his tenure as Alabama head coach. That's saying something considering the enormous amount of talent he's brought in over the years.

Alabama is also expected to get a national letter of intent from an equally fantastic outside linebacker Christian Miller at some point during the day.

Malazahn and Auburn may have won the last round. But, this round goes to Saban and the Crimson Tide.
