Austin Collie cleared to play, now a fantasy football must-own
Collie went through an inconsistent season last year, just as all other Colts' receivers did with Curtis Painter and company throwing them the ball.
The last time Collie played with Peyton Manning, however, he averaged about 6.5 catches for 72 yards in nine games, scoring eight touchdowns along the way. Those numbers projected over a full 16 game season come out to 103 catches, 1154 yards, and 14 touchdowns. It's obvious how effective this guy can be when he is on the field.
He was also playing as the number three receiver that season, with Pierre Garcon as the second receiving option. Now that Garcon has left for Washington, Collie is solidified into that number two role. With a good quarterback in Andrew Luck now throwing him the ball, he should find much more consistency than he had last year.
Collie is not worth starting this week, as he's a big risk having not played since the Colts' second preseason game, but it would be smart to stash him for now. He could easily explode in the next week or two, making him a tough pickup on the waiver wire. Owned in only 25% of Yahoo! fantasy leagues, grab him now while he's still under the radar.
It is also worth noting that signs pointed to Collie being ready for Week 1 down the stretch of August, but he obviously did not play. However, Coach Pagano seems more sure of Collie's status this time around.
