BCS Bowl Projections: A West Virginia-Ohio State Title Game Would Incite the Masses
Even during this crazy college football season, I'm willing to guarantee that West Virginia beats the Wannstache-led Panthers this Saturday. That would lock up a spot in the BCS title game. Their opponent? If I had to make a prediction today it's the Ohio State Buckeyes as I expect Oklahoma will repeat their mid season performance and beat #1 ranked Missouri.

A Big Ten vs Big East BCS Title Game in the heart of SEC country? Yikes. Despite the fact most everyone outside of the Ohio-West Virginia, Big Ten country region would hate such a final, it could prove to be the necessary fuel needed to push a playoff forward.  Does anyone really believe they're the best two teams?

Here are my predictions for the BCS:

BCS Championship: West Virginia vs Ohio State
Orange: Virginia Tech vs Missouri
Rose: USC vs Georgia
Fiesta: Oklahoma vs Illinois
Sugar: LSU vs Hawaii

As surprising as it may sound, I'm now rooting for Hawaii to beat Washington. I want them to get their chance. I'd rather clear the air about how a system passing team stacks up against the big boys than continue to speculate. What better way than for Colt Brennan to line up against arguably the best defense in the country.

Regarding Illinois, I know you're probably laughing it off but it's not that far fetched. Arizona State is a more likely choice to play in their home town if they beat Arizona, but the Illini are very much in the picture with the 2 team conference limit.

How do you expect the BCS to shake out?

My guess is that assuming Illinois becomes eligible for a BCS bid, I would think they would only go if OSU is in the title game and the Rose Bowl takes them as a replacement. I would think the Fiesta would rather have close to home team, Arizona State.

BCS - OSU vs. WVU

Rose - USC vs. Illinois

Orange - VT vs. Georgia

Sugar - LSU vs. Hawaii

Fiesta - Oklahoma vs. Arizona State

BCS - OSU vs. Georgia - which will prove absolutely nothing no matter who wins

Rose - Illinois vs. USC

Orange - BC vs. West Virginia

Sugar - LSU vs. Hawai'i

Fiesta - Oklahoma vs. Arizona State

The nice thing about the BCS this year, is that no matter who plays in the title game (Mizzou, West Virginia, Ohio State, or Georgia) most of that nation either won't, or shouldn't, accept whoever wins the "championship".  This is why we need a playoff.

So you have West Virginia losing on Saturday or is that just the scenario you'd like to see for complete chaos? What I think will be good or bad depending on how you see it is if that did play out, and Georgia wins that BCS Championship without evening winning their division. I have always liked that BCS, mostly because of it being favorable to the Sooners all those years, but if all of that plays out, there needs to be some tweaks to it. From what I have read/heard the Big 10 and Pac 10 conference commissioners are the ones that are holding up all of the playoff talk to become a reality.

Its mostly what I want, but the way this year has gone doesn't it seem destined that some team that didn't even win their own division would be playing for the title?

The Big 10 and Pac 10 are holding up the playoffs, as well as the Rose Bowl.  They want to keep that tradition, and underneath the current system I wish they could.  I hate seeing Miami, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Texas playing in the Rose Bowl.  However, if we can get a playoff screw tradition and lets get it done.

Can you imagine how bad USC would house Illinois if that situation played out.

USC is playing as well as anyone in the country since all of their players got healthy. If there was a playoff, Georgia and USC are two teams I wouldn't want to play.

We'll never know who the true best team is this year...

And why is that? Not because we don't have a playoff...it's because the "best" teams lost too many games. USC, LSU and Oklahoma were the consensus top 3 at the beginning of the season, and all 3 finished with multiple losses. Every game is a playoff game in college football, and many teams eliminated themselves. Sure, LSU might be better than Ohio State. But by losing twice, they didn't let us find out.

Everyone loves to blame the BCS, but if people would stop being in denial and realize that the teams that they thought were "best" aren't REALLY the best (because they lost), then it would make things a lot easier for people to handle.

As much as I would love it if ASU made the BCS and played in the Fiesta Bowl, I'm not 100% convinced that they would take them.

Yeah, they are the local school, but at the same time the state would take a financial hit by not having tens of thousands of out-of-state visitors coming in, taking a vacation, and filling hotel rooms. I'm not sure what would win out - the tourism dollars or what it would do for ASU.

But there are about 7 or 8 teams that are all the same, and only TWO get a shot, because some idiots who vote in a poll, and a computer say so.  That is a shame.

They're really not all the same. They merely have similar records. I know you're not as much of a college guy, but there really is a rhyme and reason to the BCS. And all the teams know the basic formula. For every team who will get "snubbed", there's a perfectly good reason. And if they're honest with themselves, they all know it.
