BCS National Championship: Ohio State Buckeyes vs LSU Tigers Live Thread

Nice of Roger Clemens to provide us with a brief pre-game distraction, but now it's time for college football.

Ohio State has their motivational video and power game. LSU has their speed and XBox NCAA Football training. Oh, and that have a lot hotter girls.

FanIQ says LSU Tigers (68%)

I've swung back and forth, but ultimately LSU's talent should take over. Plus, Corso picked the Buckeyes. Final prediction: LSU 27, Ohio State 20.

Q it up here. Last game of the year.

I am leaning towards any score with LSU ending in 6 and Ohio St. ending in 2. So how about LSU 16 Ohio St. 12. Oh and on a personal note, tornadoes in the Oklahoma region have knocked Foxes HD feed off because of the weather map in the corner. Football in regular D on an HDTV is stupid.

I don't think Ohio State is a bad team whatsoever (definitely top-10, probably top-5), but I think we saw in the first half what a healthy LSU team is really capable of.  I was really impressed by their offense.

With that said, if OSU comes out with some intensity in the 2nd half, they could get right back in the game.  The problem is that LSU will likely blitz the crap out of Boeckman in the 2nd half, so they'll have to do it on the ground and on defense and special teams.

Is it bashing if it's the truth?

But seriously, if people thought the Big 10 was getting a bad rap from OSU getting blown out last year, they are REALLY not going to like the bad rap they'll get from the Big 10 champ getting smoked two years in a row. (if that holds up, of course; i'm not sold that it will)

Obviously some of it is truth.  We're not a great conference right now, probably not even a good one.  But we are an average one, and we're not the worst conference there is.  Thats when it gets annoying.

I'm just hoping Ohio State shows up in the 2nd half.  Their offense hasn't looked bad just hasn't finished off some drives.

I agree with that, and that's where I think I'm misunderstood on this site as a "Big Ten basher."

I give credit to OSU, who I think is a pretty good team, and I think the Big Ten is clearly better than the ACC and Big East;  the problem is when people get overly-defensive and want to claim that the Big Ten is better than something they are, which is currently a mediocre conference.

I guess I'm just trying to clear my name, haha.  I've never (I don't think, anyways) said that the Big Ten is the worst conference, just that they don't compare well to the top 2 or 3.

So is the bashing that the Big Ten isn't as good as the SEC ... or is it that they are a joke of a conference. It's the latter one that complete nonsense. The first however is true.

Michigan should have beat Florida (what SEC fans told me was a really good team) by a couple touchdowns. Wisconsin was even with Tennessee. But, of course, no one remembers that stuff.

The SEC is better than the Big 10. That's a given. But the Big Ten is middle of the pack amongst BCS conferences. Far from a joke. ACC is a joke right now.

Kansas and Georgia didn't win their conference. Out.

USC and West Virginia made decent cases. It's pretty impressive when you consider the only times LSU lost this year were in OT. Without question the best team.

If LSU continues this romp, they are the national champion to me.  I've said all year that I think they are the best team when healthy, and their only losses came in OT.

Georgia and Kansas are out for not winning the conference;  Mizzou is out for losing to OU twice and USC is out for losing to Stanford at home. (that loss is just impossible to get over, when you consider how much they were favored by)

WVU makes a pretty nice claim for the title, though.  They dismantled an OU team that I really felt was the 2nd-best team in the nation.  Obviously I was wrong.

Obama and McCain look safe at this point. The best chance of that changing is if the independents overwhelmingly choose to vote in one primary over the other. Most of the independents like Obama and McCain, which is a big part of their advantage. If most of the independents go Dem, Obama wins easily and McCain might falter. IF most go Rep, McCain wins easily and Obama becomes more vulnerable. I expect the independents to break evenly though, so Obama and McCain it is.

Wow, if anyone is still paying attention and watching ESPN, Herbie just said he thought people would see the Big Ten as being between the C-USA and the WAC, in terms of quality.

I don't think that most football fans believe that, unless ESPN continues to perpetuate it.

This is seriously worth watching on ESPN right now.  They are absolutely RAILING on the Big Ten right now.  Fowler's talking about why the Big Ten doesn't want a plus-one, because they can manipulate into a championship appearance; Herbie going through every negative point in the Big Ten in the past two years.

Herbie continued to say that he thought the perception was the Big 10 was below the Big East/ACC.  If that's true, football fans are dumber than I thought.  The ACC was pathetic.

It has already started.

Actually it was C-USA and the MAC. I am pretty sure the ACC is worse than the Big 10.

The only change I would make to that is having the Pac-10 tied with the Big 12, especially thanks to the Texas whooping of ASU.

Basically,
SEC
Pac-10/Big 12
Big Ten
East
ACC

The WAC, MAC,C-USA all suck.  The Mountain West wasn't too bad this year, but the ACC would still destroy them in a challenge of sorts.

MAC -- Tulsa 63, Bowling Green 7. I love the MAC, but that explains it all.

1) CAPS LOCK - turn it off

2) Ohio State is not dim witted.  Its a pretty damn good school, better than anything the south has to offer.

3)Ohio State does not suck.  You don't go to 3 national title games in 6 years while sucking.

4) Suckeyes... not clever

Sorry Brother you get blown out 2 years in a row in the NC do not play anyone in the top 20 all season long

you are garbage

do you even know what football is?

And if you do are you familiar with college football

in the untied states?
OK Hulk Hogan, are you familiar with college football? Ohio St. is a great program. Just because they have got blown out the last two years doesn't all of a sudden make them a garbage team. Were they fortunate to play in a down Big 10 and because of all of the upsets this year, yea but to say that they are a terrible team is just asinine.

you are right what was i thinking

Ohio state went through one of the most brutal gauntlets ever laid down before a college football PROGRAM. They took down mighty Giants and laid waste to juggernaut programs.

Teams bowed before their power as they racked up win after win against number 1 ranked teams.

Alas the last tWo NC they were robbed it was a conspiracy to keep the Mighty and Noble buckeyes from winning the titles

Its ok though, they are still a quality program.

SINCE WHEN HAS IT BEEN COOL TO COME IN 2ND PLACE

2 YEARS IN A ROW!!!!!!!!!!!!

YOUR SEASON STILL ENDED THE SAME WAY AS YOUNGSTOWN STATE DID

NO CHAMPIONSHIP

"BUT AT LEAST WE WERE THERE"

You want to talk about choking, how about we bring up Nick Anderson in the 1995 NBA Finals. The Magic finished second that year.

First off it was 4 free throws. Secondly, you came in here name calling and you still are and that is just something that isn't cool around here. Just because a team loses twice in a National Championship doesn't mean that they are a "garbage" team. All they did was defeat the teams that they had to play, except for 2 of them. They have no control over how bad the Big 10 was this year. So lets just stop with the name calling and stick to sports.

lets stick to facts

you lose twice in the NC

and not just lose, lose by a combined  79 points.

they are wasting peoples money and time by playing in the title games.

And to call them anything but garbage is, as you said is asinine.

point is they can simply not compete with schools from the SEC its blatantly obvious.

Big 10 is garbage football at least compared to how we play football down here

Sorry for the name calling, but to defend Ohio State in anyway is a disservice to yourself and those who are apart of this website.

i all for the ND Oklahoma Ohio state ban in BCS bowls
