BCS Selection Show Live Thread
READ MORE:
BCS Selection Show is kicking off in a few minutes so feel free to harrass the system and discuss the matchups here.

Most of us who follow our schools closely are already aware of many matchups. Illinois will be playing in the Rose Bowl and it's LSU vs Ohio State unless they changed the computer formula on the fly which is more than possible.

Alright we go. BCS madness.

We knew this was going to happen, but how sad is this system when Missouri doesn't get to play but Kansas does. In a word: stupid.

I hope they did change the computers on the fly so Oklahoma can play in the title game.

Illinois to Pasadena?  Zook for president.

I think this national championship would be really stupid if it was OSU, LSU, in New Orleans.

I wish they would all shut up and just tell us who is in the games.

Sugar Bowl.... Hawaii vs. who? Tell us right now!

After watching the intros to the show where they show all the schools I really wish I went to a Pac 10 school.

Tell Us Who They Are Playing Then Talk About It!!!!!

Thanks Barry Switzer. Hawaii will play the best team they've played all season in the Sugar Bowl. Wow. Hope they paid him a lot for that analysis. That narrows the choices down to what, 55 teams?

Why was that guy holding up a green Tebow Heisman sign?

55 teams?  Is Washington the 56th best team in the nation?  I like how Fox won't show us who they play so we can pretend that LSU won't be in the national championship game.

At least ESPN will tell us all the matchups then analyze them. This is getting old.

This show is dreadful. I might just watch ESPN instead.

USC vs. Illinois. Good job for Zook.

Oklahoma vs. West Virginia. Hopefully Pat White is full strength.

Oklahoma vs WVU.  I was honestly looking forward to an all-Big 12 matchup.

Va Tech vs. Kansas. Good job Mangino. Him and Zook co-coach of the year.

One good reason for the ridiculously long break between the end of the season and bowl games is that it usually gives the players enough time to heal. If White could come back into the game last night, he should be healthy in a month.

If you looked close enough, It put the number 3 ranking under Va Tech so that means Georgia is number 5 and LSU vs. Ohio St. is our National Title Game.

I've been as big a supporter of LSU as any non-LSU fan this year, but does anyone really think they are the 2nd best team in the nation right now?

That is what I have been trying to say. There could be a argument that LSU is not even the best team in the SEC right now.

12/2/07

Spread should be much closer than 14 points.  I'd say LSU -3 or so.  They haven't looked great for a while.

I bet it's LSU (home game) by 7.5

How about this, The SEC isn't really that great. They have a past of being strong but since they didn't play anyone out of conference, except for Tennessee who got smashed by Cal, maybe the SEC is just mediocre and is given a pass because of supposed strength?

12/2/07

Id say that the Sec is one of the top confrences still and LSU is over rated in saying that. So does that put Georgia Vs. Hawaii?

Once again, I hate the BCS.  Ohio State and LSU is interesting, and WVU - Oklahoma is.  Otherwise, I'm not really looking forward to any of these games.

Interesting way to look at it. I do not see anything really supporting that though. Games that happen in the beginning the of the season can not really be counted for because so much can happen through out the season. Every year there are a few teams that are bad in the beginning of the season and by the end they can compete against anyone. I'd say Tennessee is a much different team now compared to their first game against Cal.

Only LSU or Georgia would be Ohio State, and I think it'd be pretty damn close either way.  You're like far too many people and judging Ohio State off of last year.  Their defense is extremely underrated.

True but the SEC never plays any big time out of conference games. This year, ones I can remember, Kansas St., Oklahoma St., South Florida, Cal, and Florida St.. Those are the only big time teams that I can remember any SEC schools played out of conference. We all say that the SEC is so strong and the greatest ever, and they just beat themselves up but why can't it be that the SEC isn't that great and all those teams are just as decent as each other with only one or two that separate like most conferences?

Maybe... but injuries are part of the game.  I mean, Oregon with DD might be the best team in the nation.

LSU is no doubt the most talented team in the nation, but I just don't like what I've seen from them lately.

How much heat is Les Miles going to get if LSU loses to Ohio State?  At least he'd get a head start on his Michigan career by already losing to the Sweatervest.

And Illinois.  The Orange Bowl is really more to blame than anyone else though, since they basically picked KU over Missouri.

Injuries are absolutely a part of the game.  My point is that LSU should be healthy by the time the game comes around.  So, when the game comes around, I do believe they are the 2nd best team in the nation.  Just my opinion.

That is true, Kansas fell out of the automatic spot so the Orange Bowl could have taken either.

Looking at the bowl matchups, its possible the Big Ten will only be favored in one game (Purdue vs Central Michigan) and I wouldn't be surprised if the Big Ten loses that game.  Ouch.

They talk about speed, but we all know Ohio State struggles when they can not get a running game going and if you put the ball and pressure in Boeckman's right hand. If the supposedly best defensive line in the country shuts down Beanie, what kind of game will it be?

What makes it worse is with Illinois getting the Rose, all Big Ten tie ins got a slighty worse team.

Although I like Penn State over A&M.

and Ohio State, or course, now let's see if I can get tickets to the game.

Thats true.  I agree with the Penn State over A&M.  I think Wisconsin has a 50/50 chance with Tennessee, and I'd love to see Ohio State beat LSU.  I think it'll be a good game, much closer than most think.

Illinois is going to be a 2 TD underdog I think.  But I am excited to see them play in the Rose Bowl...even if they lose miserably.

PSU-aTm will be a war.  aTm can really run the ball extremely well, but their LB's and corners blow.  I don't know as much about PSU, except that their offense, especially their QB sucks, but their D is really good.  Should be a pretty solid matchup.

I think you're picking on the wrong conference here.  The SEC teams don't have to schedule tough out of conference games because their in-conference schedules are not full of cupcakes. (Florida had the #1 strength of schedule last year with playing UCF, Southern Miss, Western Carolina, and FSU out of conference). OSU is 0-8 against the SEC in bowl games, maybe the Big 10 is who is overated.

This already starting to remind me of the OSU vs. Miami title game when no one gave the Buckeyes a chance. So I hope that's a good omen.

I never said the Big 10 wasn't also over rated. But I just think the SEC, outside of 2 or 3 teams, isn't as great as it is perceived.

Funny thing is my friend and I said before the season that this Buckeye team reminded of of that 2001 team.

Actually he called both of them a system QB. It is just that Brennan can play in any system and Tebow can't. Make my apology for last night valid for tonight. Although I do agree in the sense that Tebow is not exactly a great pro-prospect in this point in his career. Of course if he continues to stride like he did from his freshman to sophomore year, he may be the best pro prospect at the end of his junior season.

Illinois had the premiere wins to play in a game like this. They have a bad loss (but not as bad as USC).  They are a great story. Its very similar to why Kansas is playing in a BCS game and Missouri is not.
