BCS Selection Show and ESPN Bowl Selection Special Live Thread
Here Is The Place To Complain About The BCS Or Love It
All the games have been played and we now await the BCS standings and Bowl game announcements. The coaches poll came out earlier today and Oklahoma was number 1 by a single point over Florida as Texas was 73 points behind Florida. USC and Alabama were tied at 4th place to round out the top 5. Since that was also the last coaches vote of the season, we get to see who and how they voted. There are some really odd votes from some of the coaches. Oklahoma was no lower than 4th and that was on one ballot, Rick Neuheisel, Florida was no lower than 3rd on any ballot, and Texas was 5th on 4 ballots (Art Briles, Mark Dantonio, Mike Leach, and Greg Schiano). Here is the link to how all of the coaches voted on this final poll.

As of 6 o'clock central the Harris poll has yet to be released giving the indication that Florida is ahead of Texas and they are not releasing it so people will actually watch Fox's BCS show.

The BCS standings should be released around 7pm (central) but before that I will give my predctions:

Rose Bowl

USC vs Penn St. - This is pretty much a given since the Rose Bowl is always Big 10 vs Pac-10. This should be a really interesting match up since both teams are very good defensively and not all that offensively.

Orange Bowl

Cincinnati vs Virginia Tech - This is probably going to be the least watched BCS bowl this season.

Fiesta Bowl

Utah vs. Ohio St. - Some are saying it could be Texas vs Ohio St. but I think the Fiesta Bowl will opt for Utah. This will be a pretty decent game and since Ohio St. isn't playing an SEC team, they should win.

Sugar Bowl

Alabama vs. Texas - Since Utah will go to the Fiesta in my opinion, the Sugar Bowl will match up two historic powers of College Football. Texas should be fired up but I could see them being disappointed and possibly a let down, Alabama will keep it close but Texas prevails.

National Championship

Oklahoma vs. Florida
- To toot my own horn here, I predicted this match up back in the preseason and for a while there it didn't look like it would happen. Both of these teams are great offensively and this game should be a classic shootout. Last team with the ball wins, which means the Sooners get the victory.

So here is the place to Q it up while watching the BCS Selection Show and to make fun of ESPN's Bowl Selection Special.

I think the bigger problem is that Boise State got snubbed. If the BCS folks really think that their system is so great, then why the hell would they take Ohio State over a team that is ranked higher?

Oh yeah... money > reality.

The BCS is biased.  Even the title game logo is blue and orange.

/crazy BCS hater (or Texas fan, whichever you prefer)

Florida is going to have home field advantage. I dont agree with the Orange Bowl statement though. I love to watch Cinci play this year they are pretty explosive.

I agree. Totally biased. It's in South Florida, blue and orange logo. Tim Tebow was going to be featured in the middle of the uprights, but they thought that might be a bit too obvious.

Sure, show the Rose Bowl first since we all know who's playing there.  Damn producers and their tricks to keep us watching.

Next bowl game announced will be whatever one Utah is in since they want to build suspense for Texas not getting in...

With Bama in the Sugar that means that Florida is in the title game.  BCS fails... again.

This is dumb. Just show us that Texas is playing Ohio St. already.

I agree there. Texas better not come out flat or it won't even matter.

I hope they do, so all the idiots who have been crying about Texas can shove it.

The Harris poll made up the majority of that difference.

The problem is in every other conference, Texas would've been playing in that game.  Majority doesn't necessarily make it right, but Texas had a legitimate gripe and has yet another one now.  Of course, its up to them to prove everyone defending them right.

And of course the Harris poll has people voting who think Penn State is undefeated.  What a great system.

Well do you think it's time for a better way to decide a national champion than the BCS determing who plays for the national championship. because they showed the BCS ranking and some of the top 10 teams had the same record so how can the Gators and the Sooners truely call themselves the National Champion. Here's just an idea have the top 8 teams in the AP poll have a single knock-out play off format , in a way that  no one can bitch . The way it would go is the 1 vs. 8 , 2 vs. 7 , 3 vs. 6 , 4  vs. 5. . Then in the semi-finals the highest remaining seeds host the two semi-finals. Then hold the National Championship Game at the Orange Bowl . Of the Top 8 teams who do you think would advance to the Semi-final ,then which four would go to the semi-finals and finally who would play for the National Championship

But like Stoops said, everyone knew (and agreed to) the rules beforehand. So in all reality, Texas has no legitimate gripe whatsoever.

Oklahoma had a better overall body of work, period. That part really isn't even debatable, considering the weakness of Texas' non-con schedule as opposed to OU beating Cincy and TCU.

They're not in any other conference, they're in the Big 12. The rules are the rules, and the reasoning behind them actually makes a lot of sense.

All the top ten except Texas Tech (ineligible) and Boise State got a BCS bowl slot.  The real problem is the Orange Bowl.  #12 vs #19.

Finally, it's a shame Ohio State couldn't slip a couple more places. Drop them to #13 behind TCU, Cinn, and Ok St, and the Fiesta Bowl has to choose between Boise State and TCU.

Yeah, but do you think even Stoops new about that rule until a few weeks ago.  He's only saying that because he's the lucky coach who benefits from it.  Granted, Mack Brown would be doing the same thing, but its a bit dishonest.

The bigger joke though is that this system is supposed to take the two teams who have accomplished the most during the season and put them into the title game to play each other.  Since we've decided that Utah and Boise State aren't allowed to play for the title, the two most accomplished teams this year are without a doubt Oklahoma and Texas.  The BCS simply isn't doing what its supposed to do.

Did anybody see Mr. OU......ah I mean Barry say that non BCS teams couldn't compete in the BCS? I thought that was ironic considering that they are 2-1 and Boise beat his Sooners.

I am 110% with you on that one.  The actual Fiesta Bowl match up is OU vs. Boise St.  rematch.  OSU gets shut out.

I'll wait until after the bowl games are played to have an opinion on that statement.  If Texas beats Ohio State, then there is some ground for debate.  But if OSU wins, then Texas never deserved to be there.

And if Texas Tech somehow loses to Ole Miss, it will throw all of arguments for the Big 12 right out of the window.
