Bad Day Today at work
1/15/08

Today is one of them days when you wish you sat behind a desk. One of those days when you arrive home you kiss and hold your kids with every bit of energy and love that you could give them. Today is a bad day.

At 8:28am this morning we responded to a car accident/suicide. What we are told from a few spectators is that the woman driving the car was playing chicken with every car that would come in the opposite direction. One said spectator watched for 15 minutes before calling 911. That as far as I am concerned is 15 minutes to late.

We arrived on scene of the accident and looking at this picture it is not a pretty sight. Luckily it was not a head on collision however it was bad enough. When looking in the vehicle the driver was decapitated, dead on impact, thankfully, however there was something very puzzling about this whole scenario. Looking in the parts o the car we could see, there were 2 car seats. No kids. We, with a fire in out a$$es, grabbed the hydraulic tools and began to removed the roof from the vehicle as to better obtain access to the car. Once we did, there were no children in the car.

Further investigation and a fellow fire fighter attending to the driver of the other vehicle, sad news, one of the children flew out of this car and went thru the other vehicles wind shield. Baby 22 months old, DOA. Then as fate would have it, about 1/8 of a mile in a covert on the side of the road, there was another child, about 2yrs of age.

Thats a loss of three lives, 2 because a mother was on a high horse.

Come to find out, local PD and Sheriff went to the residence of said lady. We learned all this in CISD(Critical Incident Stress Debriefing) after the call. Well what happened is the Husband came home from work and the wife was caught in bed with another man. She grabbed and took off with the children. She told her husband he better be happy because he will never see them again.

The husband didn't think anything because this was not the first time this has taken place.

Well to make a long story short, after the debriefing, shift was over, time to go home be thankful for what you have and bless those kids.

These are the true but sad realities of what ones lives have come to............... to live another day

I gave your post a thumbs up, not because I enjoyed reading it but because it's always good to remember to be thankful for what you have.

Well thank you. It wasn't meant to be enjoyful. This is just something that happens to me every so often. It is always better to talk about it instead of keeping things close to heart and stressing over the wrongs and harm that others cause.

This is by far a perfect world. I know some might think it is, but with the way things are going in the world now days, I have come to appreciate my children more and more everyday that goes by. Not that I never did before, but it is so so much stronger. The role of a Parent is something that I would never neglect or want to give up. It is true what they always say, your Parents are your first and true hero's. That is what I want to be to my kids.

I feel bad every morning when I leave and go to work. I always wonder if it is the last time I will see my kids.......... I want every moment that I have had with them to be the best and nothing less
