Baltimore Ravens To Use Real Ravens As Mascots

This Has Bad Idea Written All Over It
6/27/08

I don't care how many times you train an animal, you always have to remember that they're an animal. Should the you-know-what ever hit the fan, all that training goes out the window, and lord only knows what that animal will do. Just ask Roy of Siegfried and Roy.

Apparently the Baltimore Ravens don't have the same concerns that I do, because they've decided to let real ravens be mascots for the team. And we're not talking about clipping their wings and having them on the sidelines. No sir. They're actually going to release them and let 'em fly.
[Ravens Vice President for Marketing Gabrielle] Dow said she hopes the bird - or birds - will fly around the bowl of the stadium. She has plans to have the ravens meet fans at the Ravens Walk outside the stadium. As for risk to fans once the birds are in the air, Blocher said there is "none whatsoever" because of training methods used.
Well, I'm glad to hear some marketing drone says there's no risk whatsoever. Now I'm more convinced than ever! Hell, can we get a lion into the stadium too and get him to run around? I mean, if it's trained, then there's no risk whatsoever.

Perhaps even more hilarious than this idea is that the ravens, I kid you not, are being trained to say "Hello, how are you?", "Touchdown", and "Go Ravens."

"I will peck your eyeballs out" was also considered, but ultimately turned down.

By the way, if this happens at a Ravens game, don't say I didn't warn everyone.
