Barcelona preparing a steal-move for Arsenal midfielder Alex Song
Reports in Spain suggest that Alex Song’s transfer to Barcelona has been nearly completed. Rife speculation suggests Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger feels his squad is strong enough to play without Alex Song. This means the Frenchman will let the Cameroon international leave London if he pleases.
In an official announcement on their official website Arsenal today confirmed that Robin van Persie is merely a medical test away from being transferred to Manchester United. Under such circumstances Arsenal would stay away from commenting on Alex Song’s transfer saga.
Meanwhile, the Catalan giants are confident about acquiring Alex Song’s signature. The 24-year-old midfielder has turned out to be an object of interest in the transfer market this season. Alex Song recorded impressive statistics last season. The defensive midfielder assisted 14 times and scored a goal in 46 appearances.
No reports or sources can clearly state where this transfer saga is headed. In an interview this week Alex Song hinted a contract extension with Arsenal. Therefore, it seems as if a story with two endings is at play here.
Alex Song, whose contract with Arsenal ends in the summers of 2014, is actually interested in playing for Barcelona. The young midfielder has great respect for the club and believes their playing style compliments his game play.
Barcelona’s new manager Tito Vilanova is eager to hand Alex Song a contract. Alex Song won’t have problems in adjusting or making friends at Barcelona as he will be reunited with the Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas at Nou Camp.
Moreover, Alex Song already earned endorsements and heaps of praise from a couple of Barcelona stars including Sergio Busquets, Andres Iniesta and Gerard Pique.
Sources from England have informed that more on the Alex Song transfer saga will be brought into light before the end of the weekend. Reports of Barcelona officials travelling to London support such claims.
According to reports the Sports vice president Josep Maria Bartomeu and Director of Football Raul Sanllehi travelled to London yesterday in order to negotiate a price of Alex Song.
Rumor has it Arsenal are asking £17 million for Alex Song. However, Barcelona are willing to offer £12 million. Both clubs are still at the table and are expected to make progress on the issue before the end of the weekend.
