Barcelona have set out in search for a new goalkeeper. Reports from Spain confirm Barcelona are looking to replace their goalkeeper Victor Valdes. Club insiders have revealed that the latest attempt at contract negotiations with Victor Valdes have failed, which is why Barcelona is now formulating a contingency plan.

According to reports, Barcelona have become infatuated with the Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea. Yesterday, the Daily Star revealed that Barcelona had recognized David de Gea as their primary transfer target this fall.
The transfer window has now become game of chess between Victor Valdes and Barcelona. The La Liga leaders understand that they will have to shell a fortune to convince Sir Alex Ferguson to hand over his prized goalkeeper. On the other hand, Victor Valdes is convinced Barcelona will agree to his demands or he will find a good replacement.
Victor Valdes has already been linked with moves to Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain. The number of clubs interested in Victor Valdes is set to rise as days pass by. The 30-year-old Spain international’s contract with Barcelona expires at the end of the season, which means Victor Valdes will be allowed to directly negotiate with clubs after the January transfer window.
Barcelona are ready to break a bid for the Atletico Madrid product this weekend. Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson brought David de Gea to Old Trafford after paying Atletico Madrid an astonishing £17 million during the summer of 2011.
Manchester United are yet to classify their No.1 man between the sticks because of good form by the Danish stopper Anders Lindegaard. The 22-year-old has been stealing the limelight away from David de Gea this season.

Barcelona could be ready to agree to a swap-deal which would work in Manchester United’s interest as they would get the opportunity to acquire Victor Valdes.
