Add another player to Roberto Mancini’s list of rebels at the Eastlands because Manchester City defender Aleksandar Koralov is open for a move to Barcelona. The Italian gaffer of the English outfit is facing an open revolt from a number of players in his team. While most players want to move out of the club on their own will, Koralov’s case is different.
Media reports have confirmed that the Spanish giants Barcelona are interested to sign the Serbian international. According to sources this development was revealed after Manchester City’s 1-0 defeat to Swansea City, which saw the Light Blues archrivals Manchester United take the top spot in the English Premier League.
Reports suggest that Mancini has angered his misfiring squad, who were also defeated by Sporting Lisbon in the Europa League. Mancini did not bring his men back to England after their defeat in Portugal instead he trained them in the sweltering heat till Saturday.
The Manchester City squad then travelled to Cardiff City and settled in Wales for the night before they faced the humiliating defeat to Swansea. A club insider has revealed that the atmosphere of the club is intense and the good mood has deteriorated. The insider also informed that several players from the squad are now plotting an exit strategy.
The season is still far from ending and Manchester City could still return to the top of the table. They have already qualified for Champions League next season and are likely to compete for the League title again too.
However, their success still depends on the performance of their players. The Manchester City squad is saturated with talented players, because of this a number of players get overshadowed.
Koralov appeared in just 23 games and 10 league games for Manchester City this season. The world class left footed defensive player wants more time on the field and silverware from the club he is playing for. If Mancini is unable to ensure this Koralov will probably depart from the Eastlands.
Barcelona has been in search of a stable defensive player since last season. Their centre back Carlos Puyol has finally struck the age where he can’t play all games in Barcelona’s schedule. So far, manager Josep Guardiola has been utilizing players like Javier Mascherano, Sergio Busquets and Eric Abidal as a centre back but the Spaniard has to find a permanent solution to his problem.
Koralov is expected to do well in Barcelona ranks. Koralov quickly adapts to different game plays which makes him an excellent player for European football. His free-kick accuracy and fluent passing ability is another reason Barcelona want to sign in the 25-year-old player. Guardiola would be willing to pay as much as £15 million for Koralov.
