Baron Davis sees Manu Ginobili and raises him the ridiculous flop above. Somehow it happened on opening night, yet it's just now making the blog rounds. Baron, I'm embarrassed for you. Luckily the official didn't bite which is rare.
I think we can all agree that flopping is detrimental to the flow of the game and damages the spectator experience. Now, how strongly we feel about that definitely varies. Where do I stand?
Flops like this need to be a technical foul. T him up. What do you think?
At the very least, give them a personal foul. It's a 2 minute penalty in hockey just like other basic fouls, so make diving a PF in basketball like other basic fouls.
I say throw him out of the game. Flopping like that is detrimental to the sport as a whole. Do it again and get a suspension. This kind of crap needs to stop now.
I'm sure it is the same in the NBA, but in high school, faking being fouled is considered an unsportsmanlike act and warrants a technical foul. I've never seen it done, but in general, the flopper is always called for a foul. I had a coach go nuts about a block call I made and I told the coach, "Listen, he flopped. I just called him for a block but next time he will be getting T'ed up".
Davis deserved a technical for that ridiculousness. He's still getting ridiculed here, and hopefully other places, so he probably won't pull that again.
"Floppers" will continue to be just that as long as they get away with it. There needs to be some kind of penalty when it is as obvious as this one........
This is nothing compared to some of the flopping that is destroying the greatest sport on earth, not the US, Futbol. Diving is so rampant now that they are teaching kids all over the world how not to get caught flopping. It is disgusting. I watched the clip, looked like something bit him on his ass. I wonder if Baron took a trip out to one of these camps?
